This is a selection of the finest puppet scenes created by Jordi Bertran throughout his long career as a puppeteer. A cabaret-style show in which different characters from other productions by his company share the stage for the first time, captivating and moving the audience with their humour, movements, gestures and conflicts.
Louis Armstrong with his swing, the singer Ínox with his acrobatic rock, the Ladies of the Universe with their choreography, the Fakir Raixic with his sharp needle and his impossible contortions. Pep Bou with his ephemeral soap planets and the skeleton of Bon Scott with the music of AC/DC will create a dreamlike world full of vitality.

Developing a manipulation technique is very much like learning to play a musical instrument. String manipulation requires skill, insight, and an understanding of the relationship between the puppet’s distance from and proximity to its control mechanism and its puppeteer. We know it is a fascinating and highly elaborate technique, involving countless steps and processes.
But the beauty and delicacy of these figures, which move fluidly across the stage, seeming to defy the rules, leave us in awe.
Jordi Bertran’s presence marks a return—a homecoming to a place where he was welcomed as one would welcome a friend whom one greatly admires. He will be with us both to present one of his shows and to lead an extended training program for arts professionals, which will provide us with a deep understanding of the art of string puppetry, as well as an intensive and dedicated exploration of the complexities involved in this technique.

In 1977 Jordi Bertran joined the “Grupo Taller de Marionetas” directed by Pepe Otal and discovered the mesmerizing power and the communication capacity of the marionettes and puppets.
Later he formed part of two groups: “Col·lectiu d’Animació de Barcelona” (1978), directed by Carles Cañellas, and “La Companyia Ambulant els Farsants” (1979-1987), which he co-founded.
In 1987 he founded his own company with the intention of spreading the art of puppeteering with the objective of especially reaching an adult audience.
