From Foot to Hand
Along the miles of a country road, the verge becomes an improvised stage where ‘rubbish’ comes to life. This is a performance divided into scenes that follows the shared journey of various shoes which, through a twist of fate, neglect or mishaps along the way, have ended up abandoned, damaged and, worst of all, mismatched.
what the festival has to say
Over the years, Ei! Marionetas has developed a close partnership with Projet'arte, which has been doing very important and consistent work to integrate young people with disabilities. An ongoing artistic program, featuring countless initiatives, has evolved over the years, and the work presented during this festival begins many months in advance, involving a comprehensive process of research, artistic development, rehearsals, and staging of the production, so that the final piece is presented during Ei! Marionetas, reflecting an intensive and inclusive creative process. Here, puppetry takes on a playful dimension, in addition to a therapeutic one, serving as a bridge between different forms of expression and the development of skills. This is a production that must be seen, as it also reflects on the various ways in which the art of puppetry is embraced.
Projet'arte
Projet'arte's activity began in 2000 with the development of several projects called “Traditional Percussion Orchestra” in public, private and IPSS schools, the result of the idea of Prof. José Maria Rêgo.
It is on young people and children that we must focus, promoting a balance in their leisure time, be it outdoor activities, sports, cultural or other, as a way of socializing, as an alternative to the “dictatorship” of electronic social networks. Traditional music is one of the best ways of facilitating this type of activity. It's not “music for music's sake”, it's something that tells us a lot, that connects us to our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents, it's an identity that we want to preserve.
In the school context, music has important advantages, it helps to control stress and anxiety, for example in assessment situations. Progress in learning music requires individual work and study, persistence and self-evaluation. Its transfer to the school context will facilitate academic success.
